BiographyHistory

Louis Munkara is the father of Beatrice Kerinaiua (q.v.) who penned the biography Ngirramini Ngini Karri Ngiyarringani Kapani Yimamani Parlingarri alternatively titled Memories of my Father, Louie Munkara. Munkara is recorded in a number of sources, including the memories of his daughter, to have captured five Japanese airmen in the Tiwi Islands during the Second World War. Munkara is also remembered to have rescued three airmen from a plane that crashed into the sea and taken them to the shore.
