BiographyHistory

William Lord was a jockey who rode (and won) his first professional race at Randwick in the 1940s.

In an effort to control his weight, Lord began training in a Newcastle gym. As a result, he developed an interest in boxing. Eventually, Lord retired from racing and spent several years as a professional boxer.
