BiographyHistory

'As a young boy, Rae Johnstone, moved to Sydney with his mother' and attended the Marist Brothers school at Darlinghurst . After attending a race meeting at Randwick, with his father, Johnstone 'decided there and then to become a jockey.' After riding 3000 winners in nine countries, he retired from riding in 1957.
