Jim Sharp is a retired meat worker who was very active in the AMIEU during the period 1961 to 1986. He has also been closely involved in community politics around peace, environment and working-class issues from the time he migrated to Australia in the early 1960s until health problems forced him to take more of a back seat. Jim has found a new voice through the medium of poetry, exploring his early background in the coal mining region of northern Yorkshire; his experiences both personal and political during fifty years of working class struggle; and some of the issues of power, authority and domination which workers, organised in trade unions, constantly face.
