BiographyHistory

Lindsay Bird Mpetyane was born on Bushy Park Station in the Northern Territory and worked as a stockman on numerous sheep and cattle stations throughout the area. Mpetyane is an artist and Elder belonging to the Anmatyerr people. Responsible for keeping and passing on Anmatyerr culture to new generations, Mpetyane provided the leadership that led the way for his family and relations to live on Anmatyerr country. In the 1970s Mpetyane negotiated the acquisition of lands from non-Indigenous land owners of cattle stations in the Mulga Bore and Angkula area for the Anmatyerr people.
