BiographyHistory

William Foster arrived in Sydney in 1827 and was appointed solicitor-general of New South Wales and chairman of the Court of Quarter Sessions. The following year he became commissioner of the Court of Requests. Foster was an Elective Member of the first Legislative Council from 1 June 1843 to 31 October 1845, representing the County of Northumberland.
