BiographyHistory

Writer and audio producer.

Varatharajan completed a PhD at The University of Queensland, with a dissertation on adaptations of contemporary Australian poetry by ABC RN’s Poetica (1997-2014). He has produced work for Red Room Company, RN’s Earshot, Poetica, Lingua Franca, Weekend Arts, and First Person, and has published his poetry and non-fiction in a range of Australian periodicals.

In 2018, he was commissioning editor for media poetry at Cordite Poetry Review. In 2020, he received one of the Sydney Review of Books' Copyright Agency-funded Emerging Critics Fellowships.

In addition to works indexed on AustLit, Varatharajan has also published reviews of and interviews with a number of international authors, including Arvind Krishna Mehrotra, Amit Chaudhuri, and with Anjum Hasan.
