Lulu Jilimbirrnga had an Alawa mother and a father who was brought to the Elsey area, Northern Territory, early in the twentieth century as a police tracker from the far west - Lulu Jilimbirrnga thought he was from the Victoria River district. Lulu Jilimbirrnga grew up integrated into the station community life of the western Roper River. One of her main dreamings is catfish, represented at several places in the immediate Elsey Area. Over the course of her life, she attained a wealth of regional knowledge, a far-reaching grasp of kin connections within the regions, and a knowledge of Mangarrayi language, people and places.
