BiographyHistory

James Macfarlane's family came from Scotland and were involved in the Church of Scotland and the Presbyterian Church. Macfarlane was born in China and lived there until age eleven, when his family moved to Melbourne. After a period of work in Western Australia and then managing a dairy farm in Victoria, he took up employment with James Hardie in the late 1950s and remained with the company until 1990 when Macfarlane retired.
