BiographyHistory

Koorie, in the language of what is now the central coast of New South Wales, means Aborigine or Blackfellow; Dhoulagarle means Ghost or Spirit. Koorie Dhoulagarle grew up in La Perouse, Sydney. He was the eldest of ten children and was in charge of collecting the firewood each day for cooking dinner. Dhoulagarle left school at fifteen and began working.
