Findlay McKechnie was born in Glasgow in the nineteen-forties. He worked as a newspaper journalist in Scotland and the north of England before migrating to Australia. He has worked as a political journalist with the ABC in Brisbane, a media adviser, a principle media adviser to the Queensland Premier, and a senior executive in the Queensland Government. He has written 'Up the Clyde in a Banana Boat' and scripted the wildlife documentary 'Koalas Out on a Limb'.
