Australian political journalist and commentator. The host of ABC's Kitchen Cabinet (a series in which she interviews politicians as they cook), she is also the author of a weekly opinion column for Fairfax. Her 2014 book The Wife Drought raised the question of the significance of a stay-at-home spouse (of either gender) for professional, social, and economic comfort and mobility. In 2018, she published Special Guest, a book on hospitality and entertaining, with long-time friend Wendy Sharpe; it was longlisted for an Indie Book Award (illustrated non-fiction).
Among her awards is a 2009 Walkley Award for best magazine feature writing, for her Quarterly Essay, 'Stop at Nothing: The Life and Adventures of Malcolm Turnbull'.
