Born in the USA, Lance Strauss' career as an actor, singer, musician and composer has spanned more than 30 years. Among his acting credits are original cast roles in such musicals as: The Wiz, Annie, Evita, Barnum, Lennon and Les Miserables.
For more than fifteen years Strauss has also impersonated Elton John in The Elton Jack Show (a his theatrical rock entertainment that had its debuit appearance on a Red Faces segment on the popular Hey Hey It's Saturday Show in 1987 (he won the segment). The concept for the show came about after he played Elton John during the 1986 production of Lennon. Strauss has performed his Elton Jack Show more than 2,000 times in 15 countries and entertained millions of people on TV and in the corporate sector. In 1995 Elton Jack's popularity culminated in the Jon Nicholls produced extravaganza, Elton John - 25 Years by Elton Jack and Friends (Sydney Opera House). It was also around this time that Strauss became synonymous with Telstra Mobilenet's hapless American 'Chucky' series of advertisements.
In 1999 Strauss returned to the music theatre stage to play Harry Akst in Jolson and from 2000 to 2002 toured both nationally and internationally as Norman Petty in Buddy The Musical. he later appeared in the world premiere production of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story on Stage. In addition to his professional acting career he has taught music and singing at the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art.
