BiographyHistory

Joy Cardona is a writer from the Northern Territory and a descendant of Reuben Cooper. Cardona was one of the Olympic Torch bearers for the Northern Territory in 2000 and dedicated her run to Reuben Cooper in recognition of his Olympic dreams being denied because of his Aboriginal heritage. Joy Cardona was the first Aboriginal woman umpire and she officiated at over 100 AFL matches in the Northern Territory.
