BiographyHistory

Janis Spehr was born in the Western District of Victoria and lived in Canberra and Melbourne before returning there to live in 1997. Her stories have appeared in a number of literary journals and she is also the winner of both the 1999 and 2000 Sisters In Crime Scarlet Stiletto Crimewriting Competition. In 1999 her story 'The Red Jumper' was equal first prize winner in the University of Canberra National Short Story Competition. In 2001 Janis Spehr studied for a Bachelor of Letters (Honours) degree in Literary Studies at Deakin University. She has also taught short story writing at a number of regional TAFE colleges.
