BiographyHistory

Nat Buchanan was known as a resourceful bushman and drover who was born in Dublin and migrated to Australia in 1837. Buchanan and his brothers were unsuccessful in California during the 1849 gold rush and returned to Australia. Droving stock until 1859, Buchanan joined William Landsborough in search of land for cattle grazing. Buchanan trained himself to go without water for extensive periods of time.
