BiographyHistory

Alan Mungulu was one of a number of artists from Mowanjum Community who carved boab nuts for sale to local tourists and the Aboriginal art and craft market. Some of these works are held in the collection of the National Gallery. He was a painter of the Worrara Wandjinas. Mungulu was chairman of Mowanjum Community for many years and died shortly before the community relocated to the site they now occupy just outside of Derby, Western Australia. Mungulu is the son of Earnie Numanduma and is the brother of Elkin Umbagai (q.v.).
