Actor, writer and director Leon Ford was raised in Canberra, where he attended Telopea Park School and Narrabundah College. After leaving school he began establishing his credentials as an actor, working in both theatre and television. After having appeared in a number of minor theatrical and television roles during the late 1990s and early 200s, he was engaged to play the title role in Bell Shakespeare Company's 2003 production of Hamlet.
Ford's television credits include drama series such as Water Rats (1996), Young Lions (2002), McLeod's Daughters (2002), The Crooks (2005), All Saints (2001-02, 2008), East West 101 (2007) and the US production The Pacific (2010). He has also appeared in a number of mini-series and telemovies, notably Changi (2001), Stepfather of the Bride (2006) and Tsunami: The Aftermath (2006). Ford's career as a film actor has seen him play roles in Lost Things (2003), Beneath Hill 60 (2010) and several short films.
In addition to his acting career Ford has written short stories, long fiction and film scripts. In 2010 he wrote and directed the feature film Griff the Invisble (to be released in 2011).
