BiographyHistory

Poet Alan Ross visited Australia in 1955 as cricket correspondent for the London Observer, and while in Sydney reviewed books for the Sydney Morning Herald. Chiefly known for his verse, Ross also published several prose books, among them two books on cricket, Australia '55, (1955) and (with Patrick Eagar) Tour of Tours: Border's Victorious Australians of 1989 (1989). Ross has also written lyrically of Melbourne and Sydney in the book Places.
