BiographyHistory

Henry Rankine has served as Chairman of the Raukkan Council. He was born at Raukkan, formerly known as Point McLeay Mission, in South Australia. A Justice of the Peace, Rankine has represented his people on the Coorong Lands Trust, and served as a Commissioner for Native Title. Rankine was involved in organising the Ngarridjeri Ngrilkulun 1999, the first Corroboree held at Raukkan since 1899. Rankine's wife, Jean Rankine, was instrumental in the resurgence of teaching language and culture to Ngarrindjeri children in the 1970s.
