BiographyHistory

Bill Egan was living in Fitzroy when he enlisted to serve in the Second World War. He was 21 years old and went on to fight in Greece, Egypt and Syria. He trained for jungle warfare in Ceylon but his Battalion was shipped back to Melbourne in 1942 without seeing action there. He lived the rest of his life in Victoria.
His uncle Bill Egan Snr fought in the Battle of the Somme during World War I and was killed in action.
