BiographyHistory

Warlaburu is a Gurruma Elder who was a good friend of Wimiya King (q.v.) and a caretaker of the country surrounding Mt Enid Outcamp in the Pilbara of Western Australia. Warlaburu was concerned about the exclusion of Aboriginal children in Roebourne from the education system and pushed for a school to be established in Roebourne during the 1950s. As a result, a school for Aboriginal children was established and later joined with the mainstream school.
