BiographyHistory

Mervyn Street is the European name given to Jowddji. He was born at Louisa Downs Station between Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing in the Kimberley of Western Australia. As a young man he worked as a stockman on Carnegie station. Jowiddji is a Senior Gooniyandi man. He is of the Jupurra skin group and Gooniyandi, Walmajarri, Jaru language groups, a cultural advisor and artist of Pullout Springs on Louisa Downs Station.
