BiographyHistory

Alice was born at Dairy Creek to Robbie and Alice Walgar and worked on a station in her youth. Alice travelled to Dalgety Downs where she met her promised husband named Norman Davies. When Alice was a child, elders would share stories with her about how the local police took away Aboriginal people who were ill and transported them to islands for quarantine. There were a number of Islands along the coast of Western Australia where Aborigines were jailed or locked away for minor crimes or illnesses such as leprosy. Her grandparents were among the Aboriginal people taken away to these islands.
