BiographyHistory

Ted Ard's father was killed at Gallipoli during World War I and his grandfather raised him. Ted's grandfather was a pearler in Broome known as One Arm Dick after a shark had attacked him and taken his arm. Ted Ard worked in the Kimberley area as a breaker and musterer and could break up to three horses in a single day. Ted Ard experienced few injuries while working as a horse breaker. In Ted's youth, he was told stories of Captain Cook by old Yammatji people.
