BiographyHistory

'A Hermit in Western Australia' was living in the the Swan River Colony (Perth) Western Australia in the 1840s.

In his letter to the Gazette published 10 December 1842 'The Hermit in Western Australia' states that ' Many have been the enquiries respecting my humble name, but ... it is merely assumed (like the olden shield on the warrior, for the protection of himself, and those at his back)...' He also states that he is 'a member of the Masonic Society.'
