Antoni Jach was born in East Melbourne to a Polish father and an Anglo-Australian mother. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree from La Trobe University and has worked as the coordinator of the Associate Diploma of Arts (Professional Writing and Editing) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, while also teaching short story writing and small press publishing there. He became a member of the Australian Society of Authors, The Victorian Writers Centre and Darebin Writers Incorporated.

Jach's poetry and short stories have appeared in several anthologies and magazines. His play Boy in a Potato Patch was performed at La Trobe University and The University of Melbourne in 1976 and another play, Some of the Best Years, was performed at the University of Western Australia and La Trobe University in 1977. His novel in manuscript, Dina Club, was shortlisted in the 1990 Vogel/Australian Award. He was also shortlisted for the fiction section of The Age 'Book of the Year' in 1999. Jach has published translations of the poetry of Baudelaire, Eluard and Apollinaire in several periodicals and journals. His work was read on ABC television for The Arts Show in 1999 and he was featured on a video titled Writers on Screen '99.
