BiographyHistory

Nandjiwara Amagula was born at Yadigba near the Emerald River on Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria. At thirteen years of age, Amagula was taken from his parents and placed in a mission. Nadjiwara means the south-east wind and Amagula means the sea-serpent up the river.
