Mawunyo Gbogbo's parents migrated to Australia from Ghana in the 1980s. Gbogbo graduated in journalism from Charles Sturt University and then worked with the ABC, in both radio and television, as a journalist, news reader and associate producer. Gbogbo has also studied at the University of Technology Sydney in the Master of Arts in Creative Writing program.
