BiographyHistory

Fadil Khayyat is an Iraqi poet and journalist. In Iraq, he was imprisoned for criticising the regime of Saddam Hussein. He subsequently fled with his family to Beruit. In 1998 he received a Hellman/Hammett grant, awarded by Human Rights Watch to writers who have been victims of political persecution and are in financial need. In 2002 Fadil Khayyat was living in Sydney.
