BiographyHistory

Walter Coulthard was from the Adnyamathanha people. Coulthard advocated Aboriginal rights and the handing back of Mt Serle to its traditional owners. The presence of missionaries on his land was a concern for Coulthard who wanted them to leave. Coulthard was ostracised from the Nepabunna mission as a result of his activism.

In September 2007, one of Coulthard's sons, known as Uncle Ron, and the Hon Minister Jay Weatherill MP unveiled a monument in his honour
