Robert Roget left Perth Boys' High School at fifteen to try a songwriting career in Melbourne. At eighteen he left Australia for Europe and the United States of America, returning to live in Perth about six years later. He worked in the property market and the building industry with his company Glenway Constructions. He has been associated with many businesses and companies that have included Armtech, Hannibals nightclub, the Sanctuary health club and the listing of other companies. He was associated with some of the major entrepreneurial players of the 1980s and participated in the excitement of the economic boom and the disillusion of the market crash of 1987.
