BiographyHistory

Peter Veth has lectured widely and directed many collaborative research projects on issues concerning peoples of the Australian arid zone, cultural heritage, the archaeology of northern Australia and Island South-East Asia (Aru Islands and East Timor). Veth's research includes studies on the nature of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander maritime cultures, the relationship between art, linguistics and historic land-use patterns, and native title and the use of social-science evidence. Veth holds an Adjunct Senior Research Fellowship at the Centre for Cross-Cultural Research, ANU, and a Visiting Fellowship at the Faculty of Arts, ANU.
