BiographyHistory

Malcolm Maloney Jagamarra is an Indigenous artist and member of the Lander River Walpiri people. Jagamarra was born on Aningie Station, the son of Minnie Napanangka and Gerry Maloney, an Irish Bushman. Jagamarra is a member of the Stolen Generations and was removed from his family at the age of six and sent to live in Adelaide where he attended schools and played professional football. In 1978, Jagamarra returned to Alice Springs where he was reunited with his Aboriginal family and initiated in traditional law. He was introduced to painting by his uncle in the 1980s. He is the brother of Janet Nakamarra Long.
