BiographyHistory

Nihat Ziyalan was born in Adana, Turkey. An actor by profession, he worked in Turkish films and theatre until his emigration to Australia. He published his first poems at the age of fifteen in local papers in Adana, and later his poems and short stories were published in literary magazines in Istanbul. In Australia, he has been the editor of the literary page of Tele Haber newspaper and a regular director of Turkish plays in Sydney. His work has been read on Radio 2EA's Turkish language program from 1985 and he has read in Turkish and English at the Poets Union in 1987.
