Pavlos Andronikos, a speaker of both English and Greek (including the Greek-Cypriot dialect) was born in Limnia, Cyprus, and migrated with his family to London, England, in 1955. He regarded himself as 'second generation'. Andronikos studied Modern Greek and English Literature at Birmingham University in England and, in 1981, migrated to Australia to teach at the University of New England, New South Wales. In 1983 he moved to Melbourne, Victoria, and became a lecturer in Modern Greek at the University of Melbourne and at Monash University, where he also became head of the Modern Greek section of the Department of Classics and Archaeology.
From 1987 to 1989 Andronikos was President of the Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne. In 1987 he became a member of the administrative committee of Kentro Tehnes and in 1990 was its President. From 1986 to 1989 he served as editor for the journal Antipodes and was consulting editor for Mozaic in 1989. In 1995 he wrote a discography of Greek-Australian songwriters which was published in Antipodes. Andronikos has translated several works of modern Greek literature and scholarship into English.
