John Anderson grew up and was schooled in Gulargumbone, north-western New South Wales. A dedicated family man, John's working life has varied over the years including jobs as a railway fettler, managing an Aboriginal Hostel in Dubbo, and working at the Army base kitchen washing dishes in Holsworthy, New South Wales.
