Mark Miller grew up in the central western districts of New South Wales and attended university in Armidale. He has taught English and has been writing poetry since the late 1970s. He was living on the south coast of New South Wales at the time of his second book's publication (1999).
Miller's poem 'Flame Tree', dedicated to the International Year for Tolerance (1995), was used in the Artransit Project, to accompany a photograph by Viviana Sepulveda and displayed on public transport.
His poem A Coastal Sequence is one of the few entrants in The East Coast Duffle Bag, Sea Things Project (Red Room Company). Mark has been a high school teacher in the Shoalhaven (2009).
