Specialising in short stories and novella length fiction (20,000 to 40,000 words) from the fantasy, science fiction and horror genres, PS Publishing was founded in 1997 by Peter Crowther. Based in Hornsea, East Yorkshire (England), the company published its first work in 1999 and has since come to be considered one of Britain's premier small presses. It has won the British Fantasy Award for Best Small Press almost every year since 2001.
Between 2004 and 2009 it also published the quarterly magazine Postscripts. Since 2009 the magazine has become the quarterly anthology series - A Postscripts Anthology. It now includes the Exotic Gothic series (edited by Danel Olson) as one of its four releases each year.
In 2016, it announced the imprint PS Australia, dedicated to publishing Australian genre fiction. It also has the imprints Drugstore Indian Press and Absinthe Books.
