Roe grew up on a sheep station in South West Queensland at Cunnamulla. She has lived in Tasmania for some years, firstly at Southport and then in Hobart. Her poems have been published in the feminist anthology, Mother I'm Rooted (1975) and in journals including Hermes, Scarp, Social Alternatives, and Small Packages. In Brisbane she was a member of Queensland Poets, and in Hobart a supporter of the Republic Sunday readings. In 1991 and 1992 she received Writing Grants from the Arts Division of the Queensland Government.
