BiographyHistory

Against technical advice, King O'Malley, q.v., was persuaded to appoint Henry Chinn supervising engineer for the transcontinental railway in Western Australia on 8 February 1912. Directed to build the track eastwards from Kalgoorlie, Chinn complained of lack of authority to engage staff. O'Malley supported Chinn but when the government fell in June 1913, the new minister discharged him.
