Melbourne-based freelance writer, Rocky Wood has published non-fiction in Australia and overseas. He is recognised as a leading expert on the work of American writer Stephen King. In 2012, Wood became the first Australian to win a Bram Stoker Award, offered by the Horror Writers Association. Wood won for 'superior achievement in non-fiction' for his book Stephen King: A Literary Companion.
Wood's first graphic novel, Horrors! Great Stories of Fear and their Creators, illustrated by American artist Glenn Chadbourne, was published in 2010. It was followed by a second graphic novel, Witch Hunts: A Graphic History of the Burning Times in 2012. Wood died in late 2014, of complications from motor neurone disease.
