BiographyHistory

Born in Protestant Belfast, Graham Little spent the first years of his childhood in Northern Ireland before his family moved to London in 1948. Six years later, in 1954, the Little family migrated to Australia and subsequently settled in Melbourne (Victoria).

A public supporter of the Northern Ireland peace process, Little has been described as 'one of Australia's foremost writers on psychology and politics'. He graduated from the University of Melbourne and the Australian National University before later undertaking post-doctoral studies with a Fulbright scholarship at Yale (USA). An Associate Professor in Political Science, Little taught at Melbourne University from 1971 until his death in 2000.

Recognised for his journalistic skills, he was a regular contributer to various Australian journals, magazines and newspapers. He was also an experienced presenter and producer for both radio and television having worked for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS).

Little published numerous (non-fiction) books including the autobiographical Letter to My Daughter (1995) where the author evocatively recounts experiences of his childhood and youth and Friendship : Being Ourselves with Others (Text Publishing, 1993)
