BiographyHistory

Rick Farbach was a jazz musician who studied at the Handel Conservatorium in Munich. After migrating to Australia in 1949, he played in nightclubs and made his first recordings. In 1955 he moved to Surfers Paradise and, in 1959, with the start of television broadcasting in Queensland, Farbach began a career arranging, conducting and playing music for television. At one point in the 1970s he was Musical Director for the three commercial television channels in Brisbane. In the 1980s he suffered from rheumatoid arthritis was no longer able to play guitar. In the 1990s he took up the chromatic harmonica and with a new trio performed at jazz festivals. [Source: http://www.geocities.com/rickfarbach/index.html]
