Amy Schoonens (nee Cross) is a researcher with an interest in children's and young adult literature. She has worked on numerous children's literature research projects at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), including: Children's Literature Digital Resources, Asian-Australian Children's Literature and Publishing, Children's Literature and the Environment, and award-winning Australian children's literature.
Amy has also worked at the Digital Media Research Centre, QUT the Children and Youth Research Centre (QUT), and the Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child. She completed a Master of Arts (Children's Literature) at Macquarie University in 2009, and worked at AustLit (The University of Queensland), from 2018-2020.
In 2024, Amy completed PhD at Queensland University of Technology titled Exploring Digital Media Ecologies of Young Adult Fiction: Teen Readers and Online Participatory Culture, and was Senior Research Assistant at AustLit.
