BiographyHistory

Nita Marshall was born in Frazier Downs in the West Kimberley area. At twelve years of age, Marshall was removed from her family by the police and taken to Broome, then to Sister Kate's Home in Perth in the late 1930s, and then to Moola Bulla. Marshall was reunited with her mother as a young woman.

Marshall's story was recorded by the National Library of Australia for the Bringing Them Home oral history project and appeared in the associated publication Many Voices: Reflections on experiences of Indigenous child separation edited by Doreen Mellor and Anna Haebich (2002).
