One of the most prolific creator/writers of television 'soap' dramas in the world, Reg Watson was the creative force behind some of Australia's most popular television programs - including The Restless Years (1977), Case for the Defence (1977), King's Men (1978), Prisoner (q.v., 1979), Sons and Daughters (q.v., 1982) and Neighbours (q.v., 1985).
Born in Brisbane, Watson gained much of his early experience in England working on such shows as Crossroads. After returning to Australia he was employed by the Grundy Organisation to help it establish a foothold in television drama, having dominated the game show genre for almsot two decades.
