BiographyHistory

Jackie Frail was born on the Brewarrina Mission, NSW but was removed from her family along with her siblings and sent to Mittagong Home. She was fostered for eight years with her sister. Frail had no contact with her mother until she was sixteen years old; she then returned to Lightning Ridge to stay with her mother at the age of eighteen.

Frail's story was recorded by the National Library of Australia for the Bringing Them Home oral history project and appeared in the associated publication Many Voices: Reflections on experiences of Indigenous child separation edited by Doreen Mellor and Anna Haebich (2002).
