Writer and broadcast journalist James West worked as a 'Foreign Expert' in Beijing from 2005 to 2006. After completing a master's in journalism at New York University, he returned to Australia and took up a position as executive producer of Triple J radio's current affairs program, Hack (2008-2009). In 2010, West became associate producer of SBS Television's news forum Insight.
