BiographyHistory

Petros Petranis was born in Kossovitsa of Northern Ipeiros (in southern Albania) in 1930. He arrived in Melbourne in 1956. As soon as he arrived he worked as a printer in the Greek-language newspaper 'Fos' (=Light). Two months later, Petranis and Thomas Lillis opened a small printing press, named 'Hellenic Press'. In 1958 he left 'Fos', and started working for another Greek-language newspaper paper, 'Pyrsos'. In 1959 Petranis left the 'Hellenic Press' to his partner, and he opened his own printing press named 'Petranis Press' a very successful business until the year 2000. Petranis is married with two children. He is well known to the Ipeirotans living in Australia as the Greek Voreioipeirotis, representing his fellow Greek Voreiopeirotes.
